Biography
Born in Narvik, northern Norway, August 15, 1960, situated in Oslo. Divorced,
one child.
University education in criminology and philosophy. Several jobs before first
book was published, incl. as an
accountant in the Norwegian Army, taxi driver, mens´ clothing salesman, and
office clerk at the University of Oslo.
Have been chairman of the Norwegian Writers´ Centre and vice chairman of the
Norwegian Writers´ Union; member of the Writers´ Union Literary Council
(the grants and policy committee); chairman of the policy committee
for the Brage Prize. Formerly editor
for two publishing houses (Oktober and Aschehoug), and as editor-in-chief with
the Crime and Thrillers Book Club (Bokklubben Krim og Spenning; belonging to De
norske Bokklubbene AS); 1998-2003 consultant to Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. Several
sessions as project coordinator to diverse literary projects. Wide
experience as creative writing teacher.
